4th & Final floor of Wexford General Hospital handed over
A Major Milestone has been reached as the 4th & Final floor of Wexford General Hospital has now been handed over following last year’s devastating fire.
Following the previous successful handovers over the past year of floors 1, 2 and 3, along with a suite of New Modular Temporary Facilities installed externally, the last remaining 4th floor has now been restored and handed back to Wexford General Hospital.
The restoration of this Hospital was a monumental undertaking from the outset, following the evacuation of over 200 inpatients and staff in the largest evacuation in the history of the Health Service.
Tom O’Brien Construction and our many subcontractor teams have been on site working around the clock since the day of the fire outbreak on 1st March 2023. Well done to all construction personnel for their hard work and determination in finally seeing this Hospital fully restored, working under severe pressure and to tight deadlines.
Reaching this stage is a huge success and credit also to the Design Team and to the HSE Estates Team’s and all of the Staff at Wexford Hospital who have worked with us throughout this turbulent period.
We would like to thank our Client the HSE for placing their trust in Tom O’Brien Construction to deliver this Critical Restoration Project of National Importance. We hope their trust has been vindicated.
Some minor and mainly m&e works will continue at the Hospital for some time.
