Boosting Apprenticeships in Ireland and the South East
Tom O’Brien, our Managing Director and current Chairman of the South Eastern Branch of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) was pleased to attend the launch of the South East Regional Skills Forum (SERSF) Report, ‘The Plastering Trade in Ireland – Demand, Supply and Future Skill Needs 2026 – 2030′.
The report outlines a number of practical measures aimed at boosting interest in plastering apprenticeships both in the South East and nationwide.
Key recommendations include:
– increasing awareness of plastering careers among secondary school students
– reducing the length of apprenticeship training, and
– broadening the availability of training centres across the country.
Tom O’Brien noted “the need to build a stronger pipeline of skilled workers must be stressed”.
Ireland’s construction industry requires a strong and growing pipeline of skilled plasterers, so congratulations to everyone involved in producing this valuable research and its insights.
