May 2017: St. Molleran’s Church Complete

Tom O’Brien’s portfolio of ecclesiastical works continues to grow with the completion of the St. Molleran’s Church in Carrick on Suir in Co. Tipperary. This project involved the removal and replacement of the existing roof in its entirety utilising exposed main trusses and a combination of natural slate, copper and lead sheet roofing techniques to complete our works. We were also responsible for the replacement of significant areas of limestone ridge copings. We also undertook the replacement of the downpipes and gutters with new cast iron rainwater goods and the refurbishment over the main entrance of the Celtic Cross finial. Internally, we carried out significant plastering works in limestone plaster and general restoration works to walls and ceilings. The structural upgrades to the existing body of the Church were carried out under the auspices of the clients archaeologist and engineer. The project was overseen by our team of Pat Roche & Bosco Mahony who managed our direct employees and our team of specialist sub-contractors. Both Pat and Bosco were also involved in the recent roof upgrades at Fenor Church, Co. Waterford and the re-roofing of St. Mary’s Church in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. We continue to provide a wealth of knowledge and know-how in refurbishment and conservation type works ensuring the client and design team can achieve their aims.
